Turnips
We grow several different varities of turnips. The wonderful Hakarai turnip, available in the spring, is sweet and crunchy like an apple with a subtle turnipy flavor, is best fresh.
In the fall, we have gilfeather and purple top turnips, perfect for fall stews and warm dishes. They have a stronger turnipy flavor and are good for cooking.

Storage tips:
Store turnips in the fridge wrapped in a bag. For long term storage, they can be stored dirty in grain sacks in a cool dry place that will not freeze.
Cooking tips:
Slice hakurei turnips into salads.
Fall turnips are great in soups, stews, roasted or baked.
