Provider Farm

From our fields, for your family

We grow several different varities of turnips.  The wonderful Hakarai turnip, available in the spring, is sweet and crunchy like an apple with a subtle turnipy flavor, is best fresh.

In the fall, we have gilfeather and purple top turnips, perfect for fall stews and warm dishes.  They have a stronger turnipy flavor and are good for cooking.

Storage tips:

Store turnips in the fridge wrapped in a bag.  For long term storage, they can be stored dirty in grain sacks in a cool dry place that will not freeze.

Cooking tips:
Slice hakurei turnips into salads. Fall turnips are great in soups, stews, roasted or baked.
