Kohlrabi is believed to be a hybridization of broccoli and turnip, and that's about what it tastes like.  This funny vegetable has a crunchy bulb whose flavor resembles that of broccoli stem.  We grow two types: fresh and storage.  Fresh kohlrabi is about the size of a baseball.  Storage are crunchy and sweet and can grow up to the size of a bowling ball! Kohlrabi is available in the spring and fall.

Storage tips:

Store in a bag in the fridge.  The leaves can be removed (they will start to wilt after a couple days) but the bulb can be held for weeks.

Cooking tips:
Slice or grate fresh for salads. Thy are also great cooked in stews, sautees, stir-fries.
